The Elephants Care Program in India is located in village near Amber Fort in Jaipur which is known as “ELEPHANT VILLAGE” in this village Elephant live and get care by their mahouts. This village is set up by government and provide proper shelter with all facilities for Elephants and their mahouts. Along with this there is a big pond for elephants to relax and bath in their free time.
The experience of Work with Elephants Jaipur is once in a lifetime in which one get the chance show the care for these animals that are in need of help. Our elephant care program is designed to offer volunteers from round the world with the opportunity to work for these wonderful animals.

1. When Can I apply for the Elephants Care Program in India?
Ans. Jaipur is one of the popular volunteering destinations for the Care for Elephants. It is recommended to apply for projects once the volunteering/travel dates have been decided, as there are limited spots available. We recommend that you apply for the program and reserve your spot as soon as you have decided on your travel dates.
2. How much time does it take to finish the application process? Will my application be accepted?
Ans. It typically takes 1-2 working days for the application to be processed and the placement to be confirmed. Primarily, you need to fill out the “REGISTRATION FORM FOR VOLUNTEERS”. Thereafter, within 2 days, we will reply to you with the bank details. After receiving the fees, you will get a confirmation mail regarding the same. Then you can proceed with the further arrangements.
3. Are there any requirements to participate in volunteer programs?
Ans. The following are the requirements for participating in the project based on Work with Elephants Jaipur:
- Volunteers must be at least 18 years old when they join the Elephants Care Program in India.
- Volunteers must have an open mind and a flexible attitude to work in a new and unfamiliar environment.
- There are no prerequisites for volunteering, only a lot of love, enthusiasm, and an open mind to work with elephants.
- Participants must be in good physical condition.
India is a country with many different cultures and traditions, and while it is modern, cultural sensitivities must be considered before Volunteering in India. To make a difference, volunteers for the Elephant Volunteer Programs should bring energy and enthusiasm.
NOTE – The Elephants in Jaipur are taking care by Government of Rajasthan, mahouts and their owners. Elephants are also used for the Tourism purpose, Cultural Events & Religious ceremonies in India from centuries. For the protection sometimes during the working day you can find them in chained too. Before applying for the Program, you must need to aware by the situation and agree for this.
PROGRAM ITINERARY –
Volunteering Days – 5 Days in week (Monday to Friday).
Volunteering Hours – 3 to 4 hours in a day.
Sunday – Arrival in Jaipur
At Jaipur International Airport, you will be greeted by our GoVolunteering coordinator. They will transport you to your accommodation & introduce you to your host family and other volunteers in the house. Following that, there will be a welcome meal and an opportunity to get to know each other and the family. Meal and stay with host family. (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner).
Day – Monday
On your first morning, there will be an orientation meeting. This will provide you detailed information about your volunteering project and other important things like safety, places to visit, local and shopping areas, Indian culture & traditions. After the orientation session we will bring you Elephant village to make chapatti for the Elephants in a mud stove. Chapatti will make once in a week Monday. Meal and stay with host family. (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner).
Day – Tuesday to Friday
Wake up at 5 AM to go your elephant project. You will be transfer by tuk-tuk (auto rickshaw) to your project. The project located near Amber Fort covered by beautiful mountain valley. Project coordinator will be there all the time with you at project site and will tell you how to help mahouts in taking care of elephants. Every day you will help the mahouts in bathing the elephants, cleaning the elephant’s living area, feeding the elephants throughout your working days. Meal and stay with host family. (Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner).

Day – Saturday, Sunday (Weekends)
Weekends are free to be tailored to your relaxation or exploration. Sightseeing tours can be arranged for the ‘THE PINK CITY’ Jaipur – Albert Hall Museum, Hawa-Mahal (WIND PALACE), Jantar Mantar, City Palace, Jal Mahal (WATER PALACE), Nahargarh Fort, Jaigarh Fort, Amber Fort and other locations.

Meals – During the program you will be provided with 3 meals every day: Breakfast, Lunch & Dinner. The family serves quality and delicious Indian vegetarian food to the volunteers.
Breakfast – Tea (Chai)/Coffee, Bread, Jam, Porridge, Poha or Plan Paratha.
Lunch & Dinner – Vegetable, Dal (Lentils), Roti (Chapatti), Rice, Pickles, Yogurt, Green Salad & Fruits.
Accommodation – Volunteers are provided accommodation with an Indian host family. Accommodation will be sharing basis with the same gender in the volunteer program. Rooms have an attached washroom with shower and western toilet. Rooms are air conditioned and have a wi-fi connection. Participants who are coming with their friends, couples or family members can share the same room. Host families are experienced, and volunteers can expect good hospitality.
